Antonio Andrade

Antonio Andrade was born in La Puebla de Cazalla, a small village near Seville, deeply rooted in the flamenco tradition. He grew up in emigration with his family, surrounded by the richness and passion of this art form. An environment that moulded his artistic sensibility from the very beginning.
His uncle, José Menese, a legend of flamenco singing, was his greatest inspiration, transmitting to him the essence and passion that define authentic flamenco.

Antonio Andrade’s career has shaped flamenco in its purest form, taking it to audiences all over the world.

Together with his brother Javier Andrade, he founded the Antonio Andrade Flamenco Company, which has given life to unforgettable productions such as Mi Andalucía, Viva Sevilla, Noches de Amor, Flamenco Suite, Mi Carmen Flamenca, Torera and Flamenco meets Tango.
These works have been acclaimed for their authenticity and creativity, taking the art of flamenco beyond its geographical borders and consolidating Antonio Andrade as an indispensable figure in contemporary flamenco.
His music and artistic vision have been staged on stages on five continents, establishing him as an international ambassador of flamenco.

Antonio has enriched his art by collaborating with great artists from other cultures and disciplines. From his work with the Music Ensemble of Benares (India), Monica de la Fuente and Casa de la India (Spain/India) to María Benítez Flamenco Theatre (USA), his projects have always sought to connect flamenco with new audiences. Among her highlights is her participation in the Homenaje a Carmen, presented with the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla at the Reales Alcázares, conducted by Cristina Hoyos and John Axelrod.

Another example of this artistic openness is his collaboration with the Argentinean culture in the project Flamenco meets Tango, where flamenco dialogues with the passion and rhythm of tango, creating a bridge between these two authentic traditions.

Currently, Antonio is leading the production of Memories of the Alhambra, a work that fuses Arabic music and flamenco, exploring the cultural and spiritual richness of these two worlds in a tribute to Al Andalus and the Alhambra, symbols of cultural heritage and artistic legacy.

As a composer, Antonio Andrade has created works that capture the essence of flamenco and connect deeply with the soul. His latest work, the album Recuerdos del Alcázar, together with Miguel Sotelo, is one of his most outstanding creations. This album, full of sensitivity and mastery, represents an intimate dialogue between two guitars, exploring flamenco from a deeply emotional and contemporary perspective. Each piece of this Duo is an invitation to travel through the roots and horizons of flamenco.

Antonio Andrade and his brother Javier Andrade, founders of the first theatres dedicated exclusively to flamenco, have created unique spaces where this art form can be experienced in all its depth and authenticity.
Teatro Flamenco Madrid (2017), Teatro Flamenco Sevilla (2021), Teatro Flamenco Málaga (2023), Teatro Flamenco Granada (2024)

and Teatro Flamenco Barcelona (2025) not only bring this tradition to audiences all over the world, but also offer an environment designed to give this great art form its rightful place. With all the avant-garde technical and scenic possibilities within the reach of the present day, opening up new possibilities to the public.

Together with his family: his wife Úrsula Moreno, his brother Javier Andrade and his sister-in-law Heidi Schreiber, Antonio created the ‘Cursos Internacionales de Flamenco’ which after its 20th edition has established itself as an indispensable institution in the flamenco scene.

Students and interested people from all over the world come together every year to study, live and enjoy a flamenco week full of recitals, concerts and exhibitions organised by the Town Hall of La Puebla de Cazalla.
